1. According to working principle, air compressors can be divided into positive displacement, dynamic (speed or turbine), and thermal types;
2. According to lubrication method, they can be divided into oil-free air compressors and oil-lubricated air compressors;
3. According to performance, they can be divided into three main types: low-noise, variable frequency, and explosion-proof;
4. According to application, i.e., based on specific usage scenarios, they mainly include refrigerator compressors, air conditioning compressors, refrigeration compressors, oilfield compressors, and compressors used in rock drills, pneumatic tools, vehicle braking, door and window opening and closing, textile machinery, plastic machinery, mining, marine, medical, and sandblasting/painting applications, etc.;
5. According to form, they can be divided into stationary, enclosed, and mobile air compressors.
