Four Effective Methods For Solving The Problem Of Insufficient Compressed Air

Oct 07, 2026

When the air compressor used by the customer fails to produce sufficient gas and the customer requests to purchase a new machine, the demand stems from insufficient compressed air volume. Actually, this issue can be addressed from four aspects: adjusting the system's gas supply volume, adding large storage tanks, analyzing equipment leakage and blockage problems, and conducting a detailed assessment of the production line.

Optimizing system gas supply volume

The common practice is to increase the system's gas supply pressure to ensure that critical gas-using points still maintain sufficient pressure during instantaneous high-flow usage. Therefore, most customers will choose an air compressor with a pressure higher than the actual demand and configure sufficient backup units. Some experienced customers who can calculate the compressed air system will consider this when selecting the air compressor and backup units. However, this choice often leads to high operating costs. Many people emphasize the high energy consumption of the compressed air system, but in fact, by improving the knowledge of the compressed air system or seeking help from compressed air manufacturers, the root cause of the high operating costs can be identified and the problem can be solved.

Adding large storage tanks

In simple terms, it is to add a sufficiently large storage tank. This can be done at a lower pressure to regulate the demand. By operating the supply under independent pressure control, the performance of the air compressor and the entire compressed air system can be optimized. With lower requirements, accurate air compressor selection design, pressure setting, and good supply performance can be obtained, allowing the entire air system to operate efficiently.

Analyzing equipment leakage and blockage problems

Leakage, dirty and clogged filters, and increased airflow in the installation components can all lead to a decrease in pressure at the usage points. The pressure difference and flow increase are proportional. Even a minor leakage can cause a pressure drop, thereby affecting production quality. Most usage points' filters rarely replace the filter elements, and in fact, many factories do not replace the filter elements. These problems can all lead to insufficient gas supply.

Conducting a detailed assessment of the production line

Even if the customer's air system does not have instantaneous high-flow compressed air applications, the pressure of the entire air system often drops. Possible reasons include aging equipment at the usage points, or the "instantaneous" usage volume effect caused by multiple usage points being used simultaneously. To solve these problems, a detailed assessment of each compressed air usage point in the production line is required. Professional calculations must be conducted to identify the problem.
